The Social Economy is one powered by utilizing the unique skills and capacity of each user to fulfill the needs of others. This excess capacity or ability becomes “social currency.”
The site connects users to people able to provide a skill, service, or product in exchange for something they deem equivalent. It provides a tool to make things happen in a more mindful way as well as help users think about what they have to offer. This consideration opens people up to consider more intelligent, altruistic, and efficient ways to get things done, all while building meaningful relationships, unique stories, and better-connected communities.
I generated a mock-up out how the social network would function, using approximately 30 student participants. Participants were asked to complete a form, asking what they would be willing to offer. They were then provided with a profile page, and access to the other profiles, offerings, and requests of others.
